Aryan(Shahid Kapoor) is a 42 year old robotics engineer who finds his ideal partner in a robot called Sifra(Kriti Sanon). He is unable to find himself an ideal match because he thinks most women have tantrums that he cannot deal with. Sifra has all the qualities he is looking for in his ideal woman. Aryan seems to be a borderline misogynistic in his view of an ideal woman. He likes Sifra because she is chill and doesn’t say no to anything.

He regrets that Sifra is a robot and continues to have feelings for her until she turns chaotic and destructive because her motherboard starts malfunctioning. Aryan realizes he needs to have a realistic view about relations and he cannot be in a relation with a robot. The movie has amusing moments. Shahid’s performance was entertaining. Kriti’s performance was amusing and convincing as a robot.

How a robot reacts to a typical India household was interesting to watch. Dimple Kapadia plays Shahid’s aunt who develops the robot Sifra which is done with the intention of helping people by responding to their emotions. The movie is well intended and hardly has any flaws to pin point.

The movie is a decent attempt at sci-fi romance; a genre Bollywood dreads to venture into. We had Mission Mangal and flop movies like Krishh in the sci-fi genre which failed to impress us. But TBAUJ had all the makings of a sci-fi without an element of fantasy or action to make a film convincing and relatable in this genre.

A good movie which is enjoyable to watch till the end with a few amusing and funny moments. Bollywood has the potential to make better films in the sci-fi genre which they should try and venture instead of investing in futile violent movies like Animal or Spy universe with mindless violence and no story. Movies such as TBAUJ have set a trend that you can make entertaining sci-fi films without the need for magical elements or mindless action.
