Pixar movies have an element of science and math and an innovative plot. Like the movie Soul, elemental is based on how life blends with the five elements on Earth. Ember is the daughter of Fire element Bernie and Cinder who flee from their home and come to Elemental city where air, water, Earth, and Fire coexist.
They find it difficult to find home because fire burns everything down so they find it hard to find a home in the neighborhood. After settling in and starting an eatery, it is the dream of Bernie to gift the family business to Ember. She has other dreams and a fiery temperament and meets water element, Wade.
Scientifically, fire and water do not blend, but this love story has no steam, romance, or enough comedy. One of the few disappointing Pixar Disney movies. Disney has magic, Pixar movies are more or science than art with a good plot and no moral lessons like most Disney movies. The USP of Marvel is too many characters, a visual treat, and a loose plot connecting quirky characters. Maybe if the three come together to make a movie, they can make a good cocktail of a plot with excellent visuals, and no room for goof-ups.
A one time watch, inspired from Madagascar. The plot lacks depth, maybe they would have added another element Ether and depicted the magic of love story of how two elements blend well together with the magic of love. The focus has only been on the Fire and Water Element, Earth and Air are pretty much ignored. Maybe they should do an Elemental 2 and focus on other elements to create an intriguing love story. The movie had a good scope for comedy which is clearly missing. I would give it a three star rating.
